Welcome to the web site of Karen Appleyard.

Karen was one of the UK's few fulltime female Gamekeepers, following in the footsteps of her Internationally reknowned Head Gamekeeper, father, Jeff. Brought up in the countryside she has learnt her fieldcraft from her father, who instilled in her a deep love and understanding of all things nature and as Karen remarks, she continues to view nature with wonderment each and every day.

Several years ago due to ill health Karen was forced to leave the world of Gamekeepering behind, something which to this day she still regrets. Having spent her life in the great outdoors, it was a very natural progression for her to move into the world of outdoor photography. Having always carried a camera with her when she was outside working, she swapped her trusty compact for her Nikon D3 and a collection of Nikkor lenses.

Karen not only shoots outdoors, but is just as skilled in the studio, shooting a vast range of subjects, some of which can be seen in the galleries section.
